Electrician in Encino

Looking for an electrician in Encino for a bigger panel or power out to a guest house? We start with what your service can carry, and the price comes in writing before any work begins.

Coming out to look is free. Your price the same day you ask.

When an Encino house outgrows its panel

Many Encino houses were built in the 1950s and 60s, on the flats north of Ventura Boulevard and up the hillside streets toward Mulholland Drive. A panel from then was sized for a house with far less plugged into it. Central air and a car charging overnight were not part of the plan.

That does not always mean a new service. A load calculation shows what the house draws now and what the new load would add, and sometimes the answer is that the panel can take it. When it cannot, a panel and service upgrade is the job, and the written price shows which part of the cost belongs to the utility.

Other jobs we take on in Encino

  1. A second car charger. Two cars on one panel is where many services run short, and an EV charger set to a lower current can sometimes avoid an upgrade.
  2. Lights that dim when the AC starts. A brief flicker as a big motor starts can be normal. A dip that lasts, or one that gets worse through the summer, can point to a loose connection, and finding it is fault-finding work.
  3. Big rooms that need more light. Recessed lights across a wide ceiling and fans hung in tall rooms both depend on what the ceiling can carry, which our lighting and fixtures page explains.

Power out to a guest house

Plenty of Encino lots have room for a second building, such as a guest house or a home office at the back. Getting power there takes a feeder sized for what that building will draw and a panel of its own at the far end.

The trench between the two usually decides the timeline and what the yard looks like afterward, so it is worth settling the route before anyone digs. Our sub-panels and outbuildings page covers the rest, including when the main service has to grow first.

What happens after you get in touch

  1. Tell us what you are adding. Roughly how old the panel is helps too, and sending it costs nothing.
  2. We run the numbers first. For new load, the load calculation comes before any quote, and photos of the panel and the meter are often enough to start it.
  3. We come out when it needs a look. A trench or a service upgrade usually does.
  4. The written price separates our part from the utility’s. It also says what would change it.
  5. As the electrical contractor, we pull the permit. When the work is done we book the final inspection, and the city collects its permit fee from you.

Encino questions

Will it cost anything to have someone look?

No. Coming out to look and giving you a price is free. You pay for the work.

Do I need 200 amps for a charger and a new AC?

Not necessarily. The calculation may show your service already has room, or that a charger at a lower current fits. If neither works, the upgrade is the answer and we price it in full.

One sentence about what is happening will do. Sending it costs nothing and does not book a visit.
