EV charger installation in Los Angeles
Mounting a Level 2 EV charger takes about an hour. The price of the electrical work is decided between the panel and the wall, by how far apart they are and whether the panel can carry the new load.
Coming out to look is free. Your price the same day you ask.

What decides the price of an EV charger
The unit on the wall takes an hour. Everything that makes the job cost what it costs happens between the panel and that wall.
- The distance. A charger on the garage wall the panel is already on is a short run. A charger at the far end of a detached garage is a different job.
- The route. Cable through an open attic is straightforward. Cable through a finished ceiling, along a stucco wall or under a driveway is not.
- The panel. Whether there is space for the breaker, and whether the service can carry the load once it is added.

What decides whether the panel can carry it
A load calculation. The number printed on the main breaker does not answer it. The calculation takes in what the house already draws and what the charger would add, and it produces one of three answers: the panel takes it as it stands, the charger goes in at a reduced current, or the service has to be upgraded first.
Where the answer is the second one, that is often the right answer. A charger set to a lower current still fills most cars overnight, and it can be the difference between a straightforward job and a service upgrade.
Where the charger goes, and how the cable gets there
Height, reach and which side of the car the charge port is on all matter more than people expect, and they are easier to decide before the cable is run than after. We mark the position with you first.
Parking in a shared building garage? Our Santa Monica page covers whose approval a charger there needs.
Outdoors, the unit and everything feeding it has to be rated for it, and the penetration through a stucco wall has to be sealed properly or it becomes a water problem later.
The permit, and why it matters later
A 240-volt charger circuit is permitted work. The inspection that closes the permit is also the record that the installation was done to the standard, and that record is what a buyer, an insurer or a utility program asks for afterward.
A paid invoice is not the same thing as a closed permit. How long each part takes is set out on the utility and permits page.

One sentence about what is happening will do. Sending it costs nothing and does not book a visit.
